Winter Destinations for Everybody

Winter Destinations

Everybody has a different approach to Winter. Some like to spend it in front of the fireplace with a glass of Malbec. Others want to enjoy it to the fullest while it lasts, and go skiing, skating or snowboarding each weekend. There are also those, who can’t stand it and look for any chance to get away. Today, we’ve prepared a list of Winter destinations, where everyone can find something for themselves.

Disclaimer: For the sake of the article we will talk about the season in the northern hemisphere.

For the Sun Lovers

There are hundreds of destinations that remain warm during the Winter. If you truly hate this time of the year, you may want to switch the seasons. How? Well, while the northern hemisphere experiences Winter, the southern part of the globe enjoys all of the perks of the Summer.

Our recommendation? The ultimate “land Down Under” – Australia. What’s better for beating the Winter blues than diving into the crystal clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef – the largest coral reef system in the world. And if somehow get bored of the sunbathing and swimming? Australia has some of the most amazing wildlife, in a large part endemic for this part of the World. Few things can bring the smile back to your face like seeing the koala bears or the famous, forever smiling quokkas.

For the Skiing and Snowboarding Enthusiasts

If you love skiing, one of the best winter destinations for you would undoubtedly be Courchevel. This French resort is one of a kind and known world-wide. Not only because it offers the largest linked ski area in the world. Courchevel is a home to restaurants holding the ever famous Michelin stars, and some of the best snow in the area. That makes it perfect winter spot.

And if you love snowboarding, the Mammoth Mountain in California may be the perfect option for you. It is one of the biggest resorts in America and has over 150 trails, perfect for both beginners and the advanced. The slopes are set out on a dead volcano and offer great conditions until April or even May

For a Romantic Getaway

You might expect us to say: Paris, but this time let’s think outside of the box. One of the World’s most beautiful winter destinations is, without a doubt, Japan. We’ve already spoken about its colours in the Autumn. But it is no secret, that the Land of the Rising Sun is glorious all year round. In the Winter it gets that “je ne sais quoi”, and becomes the perfect place for romance to blossom.

One way you can do it is by enjoying the ever famous onsens. Those hot spring baths have been enjoyed in the country for centuries. They are a perfect way to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Japan is also famous for its delicious food that creates the perfect dinner date opportunities. Followed by a walk through the charming streets of Kyoto or Tokyo, it will make you feel the love all around you.

For Ice Skating

There are few places as charming as New York during Winter. With snow covering the streets, the always busy Big Apple seems to slow down a little (although that’s probably just an illusion). Some of the most iconic Winter sights in the NYC are the ice skating rinks. I’m sure we’ve all seen at least one movie, where a loving couple holds hands while on one of them.

Possibly the most famous of them all is the Rockefeller Ice Rink. It is a must to, when visiting New York in Winter, put those skates on and enjoy the incomparable atmosphere of this place. With the iconic Christmas tree and only 150 skaters on the rink at a time, it is a truly special place, where you can feel the Christmas spirit all around you.

For a Little Bit of Magic

And if you want to bring some magic into your World, go to the Disneyland. The most popular of them all is probably the one in Orlando, Florida. But for all of you in Europe, there’s Disneyland Paris and for those in Asia, Disneyland Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Each of the destinations has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. But most importantly, the parks are what makes the whole trip worth it. You get to see your favourite fairytale characters all in one place, and even if for a moment, feel like a child again. On top of that, they all offer hundreds of fun activities and crazy slides and machines to make the trip that much more exciting.

All of these winter destinations are different, and most certainly special. Now you have no other option but to pack your bags and enjoy your trip!
