Europe is a beautiful continent with lots of amazing places to see. One of those places is undoubtedly Montenegro. With its mountains, lakes and medieval villages, it will for sure satisfy people looking for a great vacation spot. Join us today to see what’s worth visiting in the country of Montenegro.
Kotor, also known as a masterpiece of fortifications, was a main attraction of Montenegro for years. The city that is 2000 years old yearly brings millions of tourists. It also looks like a place that stayed in the past with the walls surrounding it. What can the city offer you in general? Go to the Old Town, it will remind you of Venice with the beautiful, old cobblestone streets. You could say that Kotor is a living museum of world’s history. Full off stories, laying just on the shore of the Boka Bay, showing you the marks of the ancient legends. The world recognizes the beauty of this place as it is a now a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We believe that this is a good argument itself.
Sveti Stefan is a famous island that used to be a fishing island. Then, around 1400, it became a place of protection for the families that were running away from the Turks invasion. It is a tiny island full of beautiful houses that right now is a very luxurious place to stay in. You can stay in the villa with a pool or in a small apartment and in everything in between. Also, you have access to the public pools, a gym and restaurants that will make sure you get all of the beautiful views that this little island has to offer. Don’t forget to put Sveti Stefan on your Montenegro bucket list as it is not a place you want to miss.
Lake Skadar – the Balkans’ biggest lake and a very important place when it comes to wildlife. A lot of migrating animals come to this lake exactly to find protection for the cold season. The importance of this place is so big, that Montenegro made it its National Park. What would the perfect day by the Lake Skadar look like? It would for sure consist of a boat ride that would allow you to see the exceptional beauty of the spot with your own eyes. Afterwards, we recommend booking and going on a tour of a local winery to try local wine and delicious food of the region.
After the Grand Canyon in the United States, Montenegro’s Tara Canyon is the deepest canyon in the world. If you want to see the beauty of the cliff as a whole, we recommend whitewater rafting tour. That way you will be able to look at everything the place has offered. Moreover, if you are a fan of these kinds of activities, there are spots for cliff jumping and swimming. Be careful though, as the water inside the canyon is actually quite cold. It’s only 10°C, even when the weather is very hot. It is also another place in Montenegro that has been put on the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Not only is the Njegos Mausoleum a beautiful little chapel to see, its location is quite incredible as well. On the top of one of the highest mountains in all of Montenegro, you can go there to experience two different climates – Mediterranean and Continental.
As to the chapel and the mausoleum, it is just as majestic as you could imagine. The chapel is made of marble, one of the most expensive materials, and the ceiling of the whole mausoleum is covered in cold. We recommend seeing it and climbing the peak, but be careful, the beauty of the place might make you dizzy.
Last, but certainly not least, is Budva. This not-so-big city has it all. It will leave you in awe of the beautiful beaches and blue water of the sea. The old town of Budva is full of history, resemblances of ancient times and Venice-like narrow streets. If you are there, make sure to visit Budva’s old Citadel. Climb all of those stairs and enjoy the views as they will take your breath away for sure.
Another thing worth mentioning is the spirit of history living in the walls of Budva. We would say it is a perfect place for a stay in Montenegro. If you agree, don’t worry about finding accommodation – we did it for you. We want our users to get the best experience and that is why we think Splenda Conference & SPA Resort would be amazing for any trip.
With that, we finish our little guide of Montenegro. We hope that after reading this post you feel inspired to see the Pearl of the Balkans. We are sure you will enjoy every second spent there.
